We are seeking a bright and energetic Bid Analyst to provide timely responses to competitive bids and quotes for technology products including computer hardware, peripherals, software and services that will increase company profits and satisfy the customer. This position will interface with the Staples sales team, vendors, and various internal departments to respond to pricing requests with winning proposals in a timely manner. The ideal candidate is technology savvy, has a drive to win, is a strong team player and collaborator and possesses excellent relationship building and time management skills.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Tracks and controls workflow of the proposal from receipt through completion• Manages communication, sets up strategy calls and maintains documentation in Salesforce.com for assigned bids• Identifies products to be offered and competitive pricing for strategic, national, local and vertical Market (healthcare, schools and government) bid opportunities• Works directly with vendors and other internal sources to acquire special costs or volume buys for specific bids, where appropriate• Utilize expertise by providing alternative product solutions or recommendations• Prepares pricing analysis and works with the appropriate personnel in the field to determine product selection and pricing strategy that will attract customers to select Staples Business Advantage as their preferred vendor• Provides Bid financial analysis to management for review and approval• Maintains a high level of product and technology knowledge, highly in sync with industry trends, and competitive pricing• Reviews successful and unsuccessful bids to determine future pricing alternatives; communicates these findings to sales, merchandising, marketing and bid department team to improve success rate
• Drives process improvements and policies, creates process documents, and communicates and trains others on these processes
Essential Skills Required:
• Associate or Technical Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or Computer Science preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Minimum of three (3) years of margin, bid, and pricing or financial analysis experience preferred. Strong understanding of competitive market and technology product knowledge required.• 1 to 4 years related professional experience • Excellent organizational skills, analytical abilities, financial modeling skills, attention to detail and ability to follow through• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) and strong technical aptitude • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience including experience with complex formulas, macros, etc. preferred• Experience with Salesforce.com preferred• Ability to multitask and prioritize, complete deliverables on time, strong attention to detail to ensure quality, and self-motivated • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written
