Scrum Master – Retail Applications

Position Summary:

The Scrum Master is a servant leader on an Agile Team who is focused on agility in the enterprise and has a solid understanding of how the principles of Agile works at scale. They are the catalyst to a team’s ability to self-organize and continuously improve, using techniques appropriate to the team(s) they are working with, which include transparency, inspection and adaption. The Scrum Master protects the team from distractions and removes impediments to the team’s success. The ideal candidate has worked with several different teams, in different contexts, and has built a rich experience level that will foster and grow Agile adoption in the team and extend to the enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities:
1. Enable Scrum or Kanban as a software development framework for multiple software delivery teams.
2. Facilitate release & sprint planning, grooming, review, retrospective & daily meetings.
3. Partner with the Retail Release Manager for planning production deployments.
4. Partner with the Retail Release Train Engineer (RTS) to implement best practices in agile software development and ensuring readiness for quarterly PI planning events.
5. Ensure team goals are met and update metrics daily.
6. Provide coaching to the team to improve adoption of agile principles and to work as a self-organizing team.
7. Protect the team from distractions and unplanned work.
8. Communicate team progress.
9. Partner with the Product Owner to ensure the product backlog is well groomed and ready for the team.
10. Further Agile understanding in the organization.
11. Remove impediments to the team’s success.
12. Take responsibility for managing dependencies and coordination between scrum teams where necessary.
13. Works cross functionally to align strategy, methodology and execution.
14. Coach, train and mentor the team to increase effectiveness and efficiency through continuous improvement.
15. Assist in the adoption and maturing of agile practices in the team and extend those learnings to the enterprise.
16. Create and report on key metrics to provide teams and the organization with relevant feedback.
17. Collaborate with other Release Train Engineers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Agile Coaches, Project Managers and Business Partners.
18. Coach and mentor junior Scrum Masters and support new Agile Teams.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a technical environment
  • Experience working with Jira or comparable tool
  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Agile practices
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Scrum Professional or Certified Scrum Master
  • Experience with Retail applications and integrations
  • Ability to utilize agile methods in a flexible manner, that can adapt to the specific needs of the organization
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of iterative software development and supporting processes
  • Ability to experiment with processes and tools that encourage continuous improvement
