Position Summary:
The Product Manager of Cart and Checkout will join a growing Digital team tasked with planning, managing and operating the Staples.com and Staples Advantage websites; focused on accelerating mid-market growth while preserving the established revenue streams. This person will be responsible for defining new customer experiences that break down barriers of friction, accelerate engagement, conversion and retention.
This person will build a strategy that connects the current state of the business to the company’s Digital Vision, and executes on an iterative cadence. This will require internal collaboration, external collaboration, and cross-functional partnership with key stakeholders. This person will take ownership of their respective roadmap initiatives, deliver new product features that create value, and communicate the status and success of these accomplishments on a regular basis. A deep understanding of current customer trends, existing problems, and defining areas of opportunity are crucial to the success of this role. Data analysis and interpretation of metrics will be part of the regular cadence, and play an intricate role in defining the short and long-term roadmap. The purpose of this role is to bring world-class e-commerce expertise to the online businesses, drive an increase in profitability, reduce the consumer adoption curve, and creatively take the Staples shopping experience everywhere commerce exists.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Co-create the strategic vision and execution of new, or enhanced, capabilities within bottom
of the funnel for B2B customers, which includes: Executing the product strategy by
customer segment to bring the company closer to the vision
o Documenting clear requirements that address all customer and/or business use cases
o Prioritizing sprints based on a keen aptitude for ROI or strategic value
o Collaborating with other product management associates and business stakeholders to
define and deliver key milestones, on a reoccurring basis
o Collaborating with both internal and external third parties to build the capabilities needed to
deliver necessary experiences that move the needle
• Leverage analytical skills in decision making to focus on KPIs, testing new scenarios (A/B
Testing) and iterating the product to achieve targeted results
• Collaborate and socialize the near, mid and long-term capabilities strategy; which requires
analyzing industry trends, customer needs, rationing stakeholder requests, and aligning
technology configurations
• Build strong internal relationships across all business and product units, especially
Membership, Customer Recognition, customer data, and the transactional capabilities teams
• Protecting customer privacy and PCI compliance in partnership with Security and Loss
Prevention associates
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of online product management, ecommerce, or backend systems integration
experience
• Previously worked through a cadence and scrum cycle to consistently deliver items to
production
• Exceptional oral and written skills, including the ability to explain complex situations simply
• Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated track record of strong execution and experience partnering with technical
teams to deliver results using Agile methodologies
• Front-end web experience within User Management and Order Placement/Transactions
• High level knowledge of the Staples.com and Staples Advantage backend systems
• Customer-centricity with a proven track-record to deliver quality products that meet
business goals
• Experience with market research, competitive analysis, usability testing, and A/B testing
• Strong strategic, analytical, and critical thinking skills; with the ability to break down
complex problems into small, iterative segments
• Proven ability to collaborate broadly with a flexible, positive attitude that recognizes the
problem statement and partners with others to determine how to address
• Experience managing and motivating others to get work done
