DescriptionThe Marketing Database & Web Analytics Senior Analyst will play a critical role in the development, implementation and management of Marketing Database (“SASI”), Web Analytics, Marketing Reporting Tools and Staples Advantage.ca website optimization activities for Staples Advantage Canada. This initiative is a priority for the business and we are looking for a strong individual contributor looking to make a difference. This role will report to the Sr. Marketing Manager,Digital Programs & Ecomm.
QualificationsPRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Play a critical role in the development of improvements and additions to the Contract Marketing Database. Including designing input/outputs templates, work with IT team to establish necessary datafeed schemas, problem solve data quality issues back to input processes, facilitate improvements to the data required to feed email programs, create and analyze potential modeling opportunities within the data and document standardized procedures. 
  • Play a critical role in the implementation of any new Omniture Web Analytics coding requirements on eway.ca and providing to IT the necessary tagging script for Google Analytics on our corporate websites and landing pages. Act as a SME and Quality Tester for Ensighten tagging on both sites. This role also includes designing reports and dashboards and documenting standardized procedures to support Marketing, Merchandising and all eway optimization programs for our Eway Channel Manager. 
  • Act as Markeitng’s SME for SASI, Hyperion, eway data tables and SFDC data elements and necessary bi-lateral datafeed requirement improvements to connect with the Marketing Database as needed to close process loops. 
  • Provide database marketing and web analytics subject matter expertise during solution development for all new projects that impact eway. Eg)Transactional Furniture integration and Mobile Approval functionality. 
  • Provide key and often only User Acceptance Testing to ensure Analytics on sites are working as intended thru scenario auditing and data validation. 
  • Assist with day-to-day project management of deliverables according to timeline of internal cross-functional and vendor teams.  
  • Support all related Marketing strategies, processes and implementations. 
  • Partner with marketing and merchandising managers to assist in developing marketing campaigns to drive incremental sales and revenue by supplying data insights and support for better decision making. 
  • Participate in recommending and developing segmentation strategies, targeting criteria, strategic modeling opportunities and testing plans. 
  • Generate all email and direct mail campaign contact lists for printed flyers and email campaigns, respecting weekly timelines to ensure successful launch of collateral.  
  • Manage and load all datafeeds into SASI to define effective periods of all campaigns and appropriate CampaignSKU files for revenue tracking 
  • Develop all Campaign reporting by Campaign, Period and Customer Behaviour scenarios for more accurate determination of which campaigns to repeat or modify. 
  • Analyze and audit list selection output to identify any data anomalies. • Manage all manual opt-out tables required until they can be automated into SASI. 
  • Generate, review and analyze marketing campaign results using Reporting and Analytical tool. Develop insights and recommendation for program improvement. 
  • Drive continuous enhancements of customer database content, selection techniques and reporting. Including integration of any other data sources available such as, but not limited to, SF.com, CSAT, Product Review content, that would help drive better insights. 
  • Work closely with Eway Channel Manager, Ecommerce Expert centre and eMarketing Specialist to implement Test&Target capabilities on our site 
  • Provide ad hoc reports for Marketing as need be.
  • Maintain and enhance Contact Management tracking strategy during any redesigns of corporate website. 
  • Act as direct marketing evangelist. 
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS  
  • Strong hands-on technical/analytical skills using Campaign Management and Reporting Software (Alterian, Unica, Epiphany…), spreadsheets, databases, statistical strongly preferred 
  • Sequel and AQT coding skills required for management of SASI queries 
  • Must have experience in working with Web Analytics with an established provider (Omniture preferred) including ability to code basic analytic scripts for use in online promotional materials, corporate website and landing pages, and decode complex scripts for audit and testing purposes. 
  • Must have strong working knowledge of all MS application and superior Excel and Access skills 
  • Experience working with complex data sets in either an analytical or list selection role. 
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving ability computation/mathematical ability to create and comprehend marketing response and profitability reports. 
  • Experience developing segmentation strategy and predictive models. 
  • Ability to create informative power point documents to share learnings with team and executive levels. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once with a sense of urgency required to work in a deadline driven environment.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS 
Experience: 
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in any database management/analyst role.  
  • Experience working with data collected thru Omniture or other web analytics program an asset. 
Education: 
  • Post secondary education in business related discipline – Diploma or Degree required.
