This position will report to the Director of Fraud Strategy
and support the compliance organizations analytics strategy & development.
The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders including fraud, IT
Compliance, Internal audit, Asset protection and Business stakeholders.
You will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major
company challenges. You'll team with world-class professionals to develop and
test strategies that ultimately impact the bottom line. And you will do it all

Impact on Business
- Take a
data driven approach to identify and quantify opportunities to improve
performance, cost efficiency and flexibility of the Staples supply chain
network Identify and monitor key performance levers for important initiatives
and ensure that we can exceed performance and cost targets
- Work
independently to deliver analytical projects and ad-hoc analyses including
determining project scope, prioritizing requests, defining expected results,
proposing execution plans, as well as target completion times
- Determine
data and resource deployment needs on a case by case basis to devise the most
complete end to end automated solutions for gathering, analyzing, and archiving
data.
- Oversee
advanced statistical analytics initiatives for the Compliance organization by
developing long-term analytics roadmaps.
Innovation and Change
- Develop
tools (reporting, visualization as well as planning) and deploy them for use by
functional teams to support strategic and tactical initiatives
- Development
and implementation of best-in-class fraud detection analytics that leverages
real time customer and transactional data.
Communication/Interactions
- Collaborate
with research scientists to build advanced analytics models and support the
development of optimization and machine learning based algorithms
- Possess
the communication skills required to succinctly answer key business questions,
summarize complex analyses, and model strategic initiatives for senior and
executive business leaders.
People Leadership
Qualifications Education/Experience Equivalent (minimum requirements)
- MS in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or any other quantitative field
- 5-7 years industry experience
Professional Knowledge/Experience
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with querying relational databases and strong expertise in SQL Familiarity with development toolsets such as Hadoop, MYSQL, Teradata, NOSQL
- Familiarity with programming languages such as python, C++, Java
- Familiarity with advanced analytics tool kits and BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Alteryx
- Demonstrated analytical thinking, strategic problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with developing standalone decision support applications to support business planning or execution
- Experience building analytical models: optimization, statistical and machine learning Experience with financial modeling
- Experience with outlier detection specific statistical analysis methods such as principal component analysis, proximity based models, density based local outliers, and associated predictive trending models focusing on outlier alerting.
